What is a Certified Exercise Physiologist?
A Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) prescribes and monitors exercise for people with and without medical concerns. CEPs are able to perform assessments, prescribe and supervise exercise, and provide healthy lifestyle education to clients and to work with a wide range of individuals from those who are apparently healthy to those with medical conditions, functional limitations, or disabilities associated with musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, metabolic, neuromuscular, and ageing conditions.
The exercise physiology services offered at PCR are for anyone who is curious about or committed to changing her/his lifestyle and physical activity levels, as well as anyone suffering from a chronic health condition who wishes or has been advised to have professional supervision while exercising.
What can I expect at my Medical Exercise/Exercise Physiology session?
Your initial assessment will last between 1.5 and 2 hours and begins with an extensive consultation in which, together, we will assess your lifestyle and exercise preferences, medical history, short-term, and long-term goals. After the consultation I will guide you through a comprehensive fitness test that will serve as our basis on which to build your fitness.
Subsequent sessions will focus on lifestyle modification counselling and/or building fitness based on your own unique needs.
