Growing up in Toronto, Alison was passionate about two things: sports and classical music. She excelled as a French horn player until she acquired focal dystonia, a neuromuscular condition which would eventually end her music career.
Wanting to pursue a career in her second passion, sports, Alison embarked upon a Bachelor's degree in Athletic and Exercise Therapy at Camosun College. However, the next few years were not easy, as she experienced a run of major injuries. While this was difficult, it allowed her to become intimately familiar with all aspects of injury and physical limitation and understand them from the perspective of her patients. In a search for help with a significant injury involving a concussion, Alison was introduced to the world of osteopathic treatment. Over the following years as she experienced more injuries and went through numerous surgeries Alison would come to recognize the immense power of osteopathic treatment, and this would eventually lead to her enrolling in the Canadian School of Osteopathy herself. Alison is currently entering her third year of osteopathic education and juggles being a student with her work as a clinician as well as teaching courses on health awareness for performers through Camosun College and The Victoria Conservatory of Music.
In her spare time Alison has dabbled in many athletic pursuits like martial arts, baseball, ultimate frisbee, mountain biking, road cycling, trail running, and hiking. But the sport she loves the most is rock climbing.
Throughout most of the year, you can find Alison at the local Victoria climbing gyms using her education to train for higher levels of performance. Then come summer, you'll find her hanging off of a cliff most weekends.
